I know this is off the subject but it touched me today. As I was working in today's heat, I noticed a man walking towards me; he looked as if his movements were somewhat stiff. As he was getting closer, I saw his hands shaking and he was breathing very hard. I asked if he was all right, and didn't receive an answer. He then stopped at a tree and took a break, (I knew something was about to happen) I thought to myself he may have had a stroke or some type of disability, but still managed to go walking. The thoughts came to me as to how lucky I really was and that life could be a daily battle. So many of us do not take the time to think about the simple things in life we take for granted.
He was about 45-50 years old, dressed normal, but I just had a bad feeling. As I continued to watch him, he fell down two times. We were on a busy street and NO ONE even stopped to see if he was all right!!! He got up both times but the next time was a little different. He fell directly on his face, almost in traffic on the busy street and what happened??? These idiots honked their horns as if to tell him to get off the road!!!!! I was furious! I ran a block away to see if he was ok. His busted his chin pretty bad and was bleeding from both knees. It took me a minute or more to get to him and NO ONE STOPPED TO SEE IF HE WAS OK!! I talked to him as I called for rescue to check him out. I thought it looked like signs of heat stroke, but he told me he had Parkinson's disease. He was shaking as if in a constant seizure. All I could do was sit and talk to him as hundreds of cars passed. What is wrong with people these days??? Are we in that much of a hurry that the life of another doesn’t matter? Everything today is quick and seems to always be in a hurry. But just sit back and think of those less fortunate for a few minutes...This man may have taken hours just to put his clothes on every morning, also a little extra cologne (which he told me), fixed his hair like his favorite actor on TV, and you want to know why he does this every day???? His wife of 26 years recently went back to work and he meets her for lunch every single day!!! Now with that thought.... He has found the one who has truly made him happy. Sorry, but this just made me appreciate the little things I take for granted.
